Arbitrage Possibilities in Bessel Processes and Their Relations to Local Martingales

چکیده
We show that if we allow general admissible integrands as trading strategies the three dimensional Bessel process Bes admits arbitrage possibilities This is in contrast with the fact that the inverse process is a local martingale and hence is arbitrage free This leads to some economic interpretation for the analysis of the property of arbitrage in foreign exchange rates This notion relative to general admissible integrands does depend on the fact which of the two currencies under consideration is chosen as num eraire The results rely on a general construction of strictly positive local martingales The construction is related to the F ollmer measure of a positive super martingale

No Arbitrage Conditions for Simple Trading Strategies Erhan Bayraktar and Hasanjan Sayit
Strict local martingales may admit arbitrage opportunities with respect to the class of simple trading strategies. (Since there is no possibility of using doubling strategies in this framework, the losses are not assumed to be bounded from below.) We show that for a class of non-negative strict local martingales, the strong Markov property implies the no arbitrage property with respect to the c...

متن کاملSome Random times and Martingales Associated with Bes0(δ) Processes (0 < Δ < 2)
In this paper, we study Bessel processes of dimension δ ≡ 2(1 − μ), with 0 < δ < 2, and some related martingales and random times. Our approach is based on martingale techniques and the general theory of stochastic processes (unlike the usual approach based on excursion theory), although for 0 < δ < 1, these processes are even not semimartingales. The last time before 1 when a Bessel process hi...
متن کاملThe Fundamental Theorem of Asset Pricing for Unbounded Stochastic Processes
The Fundamental Theorem of Asset Pricing states-roughly speaking-that the absence of arbitrage possibilities for a stochastic process S is equivalent to the existence of an equivalent martingale measure for S. It turns out that it is quite hard to give precise and sharp versions of this theorem in proper generality, if one insists on modifying the concept of \no arbitrage" as little as possible...
متن کاملStrict Local Martingales, Bubbles, and No Early Exercise
We show pathological behavior of asset price processes modeled by continuous strict local martingales under a risk-neutral measure. The inspiration comes from recent results on financial bubbles. We analyze, in particular, the effect of the strict nature of the local martingale on the usual formula for the price of a European call option, especially a strong anomaly when call prices decay monot...
